It Was Bound To Happen

The kiddos were eerily quiet for way too long. I walked into Liam's room and they were playing Dr. One had pants on, the other didn't.

Drop Off and Pick Up

I admit it, out loud (in this case in typed words), that I LOVE taking Little Man to school everyday.  In case you were unaware, his school has no buses so it is all up to the parents to get the kids to and from school.   I guess back in MI if the public school had buses so did the private.  Not so much here, but then again, religion out here isn't as prevalent as I found it to be in MI.  

After we hop in the van and drop Little Miss at daycare we head straight to school.  I LOVE getting there a few minutes early and chatting with him while we wait for the doors to open.  I LOVE how he slips his hand into mine as we walk through the parking lot.  I LOVE when he spots a classmate outside and they smile and wave to each other.  I LOVE hugging and kissing him good bye only to watch him wipe the kiss off and giggle.  I LOVE at pick up time, watching the kids walk out following their teacher like she is the mamma duck.  I LOVE watching his face light up when he spots me in the sea of moms and dads.

I know, we are like 3-4 weeks into the school year and the seasoned moms will probably tell me that the LOVE of some of these things will wear thin but for now I am relishing and basking and rolling around in it.

I have decided to ship them to Nana and Papa's house so that I get a break. Good news is they are pretty excited about the plan!

The new night light we got Little Miss is working (please don't let this post be a jinx).
The first three nights we used it it was touch and go, still out of her room or sleeping on the floor.  Well, Sunday and Monday nights she has not only stayed in her room all night, but she has stayed in her bed!!!!!

She is so very proud of herself when morning comes.  The moon turns to a sun and as I walk through the door she LOUDLY announces, "Stayed in my bed Mom!".  On the weekend she opens her door just a bit and yells through the crack, "Sun is up!"  She cracks us up.

A Boy and His Kindergarten

Had a meeting at school last night. Half was in the auditorium and half in the classroom with Little Man's teacher and other class parents. So far I love his teacher and her energy and patience and personality. It was fun meeting other parents, new to the school and some old pros too. The kids made some art to surprise us!

Best Day Ever (yesterday)!!!

Little Man gave up a secret and didn't even know it!!!   MU-HA-HA-HA

Typical start of the day with getting ready in the morning.  Kids eating breakfast and I am making the snack and lunch for Little Man.   Pack snack - check.  Pack lunch - check.  Herd children to van - check.

Pick up time at school.  Little Man tells me, 'Maaaa-um, you forgot to give me lunch'.  Hold it one second.  I was there when the kid took the lunchbox from his backpack and put it in his cubby, how could I forget it.  After much discussion and me finding the right questions to ask to get an answer that makes any sort of sense,  it goes a little something like this:

• He did not want the graham crackers I packed for snack.
• He resorted to his lunch and proceeded to eat over half of his LUNCH for his SNACK.
• Come lunch time (in his mind) his lunch became his snack so he has no lunch, he raised his hand for hot lunch.

Hot lunch was a chicken hamurger (he doesn't say the b)?  Looked it up when I got home and it was a breaded chicken pattie sandwich!  The kid ate it.  He has NEVER had one before.  And guaranteed if I offered it at home I would get a big "I don't like it" before a bite was had.  I asked him if he liked it and he said the first bite he did like a little and that yes he would eat it again for hot lunch.

So as not to be too obvious I need to either A) pack a snack he doesn't like so he then eats his lunch for snack and orders a hot lunch or B) conveniently 'forget' his lunch once again forcing the hot lunch.  Trust me, I will be studying the hot lunch menu like it's the Bible.

At first he liked it. Then he rejected it. Today he jumped out of the van after school and hopped on.

Annual Parish Picnic

This was our first year and man were we missing out. Mass outside. Authentic, homemade Filipino, Indian, and Mexican food. Shout out to the Knights Of Columbus for supplying hotdogs and chips. Bounce house, inflatable obstacle course, huge inflatable slide and ICE CREAM!!!

It appears we have a little poser on our hands. Leave it to Little Miss!

Apple Season

We tried to go apple picking on Friday and managed to pick a commercial farm that does not allow uPick. Thankfully they had a bounce house and we bought some Honey Crisps so as not to go home empty handed. Mission for next weekend is to do a little research before we head out!

Sweetness

I woke up this morning to find that Little Miss had climbed into bed with Little Man. Little Man explained that he was trying to get her to go back to sleep since it wasn't wake up time yet.

It appears that Little Miss is the only family member that requires little to no sleep.

I don't care how minor the procedure, watching them wheel your child away in a hospital bed will stop your heart. So glad that is over and was successful!

First Hospital Visit

Little Man is getting tubes in the ears to get rid of some fluid and improve his hearing. Currently checked in and watching Scooby Doo.

Play it Cool

The boy is not excited.  On the bright side he does not whine or cry or fight going to school.  But pick up time he does not provide any insight about what happened in the classroom.  And don't dare ask!  "I don't know" and "yeah we did that" are very common responses.  Sean and I both feel like once he makes a couple of friends, guy friends (keep in mind he has been surrounded by girls his entire career), we will be hearing about Star Wars this and Spiderman that.

Right now we are in the play it cool mode.  Not asking a bunch of questions and not saying the word school too much.

First Day of Kindy

He didn't cry, I didn't cry so I deem it a success. The boy is not excited about going back but will get there...eventually!
