Back in April Sean and I were lucky enough, with a lot of help from the in-laws, to attend Rob (Sean's brother) and Marie's wedding on Boracay (BOR-KI) Island The Philippines! If you are going to fly that far you want to see more than one than one city right? Right!
First stop Tokyo Japan. Got in at night so not much happened. I mean besides the $100 plate, one plate with 6 pieces on it, of sushi. Holy Batman that city is $$$$$$!
Next day we had a personal tour of some of the historical and
residential areas of the city. The idea was to avoid the touristy
places. We saw places like:
A temple that dates back to 1690 and we were the only ones there!
The Last Shogun's tomb. He's on the left, wife is on the right.
Temple of the 84,000 Buddha statues. Now you are probably thinking you would rather see a picture of all those Buddahs. I know. But that is on the other camera and I am too lazy.
The Nezu shrine dates back to 1704.
A walk through the grounds at the shrine.
We had Japanese 'street food' for lunch and it was Yummy!
After all the walking from the tour we rushed back to the hotel, grabbed our bags, jumped on the subway at Tokyo Station to get to the airport. Next Stop -- Manilla, Philippines
Got in at night. Heavily and intensely armed guards at the hotel, had a drink at the hotel bar and to bed.
The next morning and the view from our hotel
before we head out the door to catch a flight to Boracay Island.
We catch up with the bride and groom and assorted others at the hotel lobby, hear about the bachelorette and bachelor party, details need not be repeated, and we are off!!! Not so fast, flight is delayed.
We made it!
Our transportation from the airport to the resort.
Just a small portion of the resort, the grounds, pools, bars, restaurants, beaches = all amazing!
One night was the grooms 40th Bday so there was a booze cruise around the island, dropped us off on a beach, and we walked to a restaurant that they had rented and they had a huge BBQ of traditional food.
A surprise waited for him at the restaurant. A token from his bride and her 2 best friends.
While partaking of the pools, we also partook in the drinks. The Mango was like nothing you have ever tasted before add a little vodka and BAM, game on!
We kahki'd the morning of the wedding, before it got too hot.
Annie and the fabulous Taylor brothers before the wedding. The guys all wore the traditional barong shirts and they looked so stylish.
Our transport to the airport. You blinked and our trip was over. Rushing off to another airport.
Back in Manilla for one night. Actually had a chance to go out to dinner. The lobby of the hotel was breath taking. From Manilla through Tokyo and we were home. And as a side note, 2 unhappy toddlers seated behind us from Tokyo to Portland. I have never been so tired before in my life.
