Kindergarten? Already?!

Little Man and I attended our first Kinder Round Up last Sunday and man, I was more nervous than he was.  First he is on board and "yeah, I'll go."  That turns into "I don't want to go.  I'll stay here and take a nap instead" (kid has NOT taken a nap since he turned 2!)  Out comes the lollipop and Little Man hops into the van, off we go.  Sean stayed home since Little Miss still does nap (can I get an AMEN).

We pull into the parking lot and I repeatedly reinforce that I am not dropping him off and leaving, that he is not attending any sort of class and that we are only here to look. Kindergarten rooms right up front so no kicking and screaming involved.  In we go and what do we see in amazement and awe??  LEGOS!  Thank you genius person who placed those there.  He picks up on the calendar and weather stations (like Patti's house), dinosaur figures, scissors and glue sticks.  Hey, this isn't going to be so bad after all.  Little clingy in the beginning but he loosened up after a spell.  HE requested to see more rooms and we were off like a shot.  More crayons, birthday calendars (he was wondering why his birthday was not up there), and LEGOS!  Into the Spanish room and he actually spoke to the Spanish teacher and tried to say the numbers in Spanish with her.  Next stop, the Library.  They had cookies in the Library?  GENIUS I tell you, it's like these people know children.  Cool globes, huge map and books on dinosaurs abound.    After the library kiddo wanted to explore what was downstairs.  We discovered a cool Science Lab which he was in and out and next door getting into the Music lab. The older grades 4-8 had their rooms downstairs and he loved how big the desks were.  He decided to try one out and seeing that little body sitting in a 'big' desk well, I think my heart grew a size at that very moment.

Back upstairs and "you ready to go sweetie pie?".  "Can we see more rooms?"  "Let's do it!!"  Well after K comes 1st grade and he loved that they had the same building magnet thingys that he has at home.  In 2nd grade there was a HUGE fuzzy bear that sat by the door and he got to rub his belly when he entered and exited.  3rd grade, well 3rd grade there was a STAR WARS puzzle!  Home run!

All in all a fabulous experience at St Pius School.

She seems to be taking after her big brother when it comes to playing with the camera on Mom's phone.  I didn't know she had done this so I cracked up when I discovered about 8 of the same picture of her.

Little Miss, how old are you? I'm 2!!!!!!!!

Little Miss is 2 (as of Dec 28th)!!! And she is happy to tell you how old she is anytime anyone asks.

Sean worked his magic and made an ELMO cake that was wonderful. Of course she loved it. Baby girl is growing up so fast...

Little Man requested hamburgers for dinner tonight. Sean obliged. Little Man ate it!! He ate it!! Hello, huge! The kid has 4 things on his menu, none of which was hamburger. Do I dare to dream?

When Gigi was in town, helping provide us daycare, we packed up the family and headed to The Grotto Festival Lights. It was a perfect night, super cold but clear and crisp. We saw the lights, listened to chamber music, and hit up the petting zoo.
