Christmas 2012

No snow but family from all over the world! 3:15 children's mass on Christmas Eve and Little Miss was loving all the participation. Christmas was cold and rainy but cozy in the house.

After dinner we could have gone about our business, Sean on the iPAD and me at the sink doing dishes. But then the kids had the brilliant idea of a DANCE PARTY!!! Whoot, whoot!! Ya can't say no to bootie shakin'.

Michigan Basketball is Ranked #2

And it turns out the Little Man gets into the games!  It was funny to watch him watch the game.  He even yells at the TV screen like someone else I know.  He has started asking for basketball classes.  Come to find out that we are #14 on a wait list to get into one for his age group!  ACK!  Someone could make a killin' offering basketball classes for the younger set.  Hmmmm, how hard do you think it is to pick up the game?

Carols and Cookies

Today was one of my favorite days! The kindy classes put on a little show for family today. Listening to all those little voices, and the actions they did with some of the songs, the boys dressed up, and the girls in pretty dresses. Made me giddy!!! Most of what we captured was video and will be sure to post soon.

It's Beginning to Feel a Lot Like Christmas

We got the tree today! It wasn't raining so we hit up the tree farm. First stop Santa (you will have to wait for your Christmas card). Next was the outdoor fireplace for a snack. Over to see Frosty and Rudolph, the 2 Reindeer at the farm. And last but certainly not least, THE TREE! Little Man picked it this year, please don't tell Little Miss.

He is the best big brother EVER! So great that when Little Miss plays dress up, he is fully committed, 100%. He didn't want his picture taken but I was able to sneak this.

Correction

After having a 5 year old sleeping in our bed last night and a follow up conversation with said 5 year old this afternoon, it has been decided that Elf on the Shelf will not be utilized this year and will be better appreciated next year.

Little Man is so into Elf on the Shelf it is awesome! Little Miss not so much. She was in a time out about 15 minutes after we read the story. Little Man is trying to help her see the light though. Helping her pick up and explaining that that will help get her presents.

We have a great park not too far from the house.  It has a nice pond, cool water fountain, trails for walking, a play ground for littles and a playground for bigger kids, and most importantly it has a clean portapotty!

Andrew's Birthday Party

Different event, same theme.  Andrew is in Little Man's class at school.  An evite went out to invite him to, what I thought, sounded like a most excellent art themed party.  His first response was a resounding "NO".  We talked about it, Sean talked about it, still "NO".  A week passes, I have not replied and what do I see on the list.... His best buddies all have a YES next to their name.  Ah ha, just the ammo I needed.   After letting Little Man know that Avery and Caleb and Jack and Nicholas are all going perhaps he could rethink his NO.  It took a few but said he would go!  (Chalk one up for the parents.)  Couple of days pass, off to the store to pick out a present.  Check.  Back in the van and back to him "NO, not going".  What happened between the store and van?  Seriously, what happened?!  Well, we aren't going down that easy.  Without further discussion it is decided between the adults that Sean and Little Miss will have a daddy daughter date after they drop Mommy and Little Man at the party.  Can you guess how the party went?

Jog-A-Thon

The fundraising was complete and all that was left to do was run, Forrest, run!
Someone's dad is a bigwig at Nike because he brought over a 2012 Gold Medalist from the London games!  (the parents were way more excited about this than the kids).  Sanya Richards-Ross won a gold in the 400 meter.  She has a great back story and never stopped trying.  She gave quite an inspiring speech about Do the Very Best That You Can Do. 

 One of the kindergarten's dad is a fire fighter and he showed up in the firetruck AND the firefighters did laps for the full 45 minutes in all of their gear!  Masks, helmets, tanks, the whole 9 yards.  There was also a helicopter that kept doing a fly over.  SPX (St Pius X school) really knows how to put on a show and make things happen.  

Once the starter gun sounded our Little Man was off to a quick start.  I was so excited to see him pumping his little legs and watched him go round and round.  After lap 7 he stopped for water and decided he was done and ready to go home now.  We revisited the speech and I reminded him that there still a lot of time, take a break and he is getting back out there.   And that happened, with me walking laps right next to him.  The rest of the time pretty much was walking a few laps and taking a break, repeat.  We ended the jog-a-thon with 25 laps total.  Not too shabby for someone ready to pack it in after 7.

Party at the Pumpkin Patch

The rains have set in for the start of the fall/winter session.  Those rains have reminded me that I was remiss in posting the pictures from our pumpkin patch outing...LAST weekend.  There were 3 families, lots of kids, and a whole lotta fun!  This place was like Halloween on steroids.
